About Jannicé
Needed a fun, simple and clear explanation to avoid nagging
Hi, glad you found it here!
I developed the Food Pirate method by teaching my own three children about nutrition and have since continued to help other parents and educators use the method with their children.
From the very beginning, I worked in finance, then completely changed direction and trained as a skin therapist and make-up artist. As for my own food journey, it started very sweetly, with lots of sweets and buns when I was young. It ended with my body not feeling well and I had severe eczema, mainly on my hands.
I had worked as a skin therapist for 6 years but couldn't get my skin to heal so I trained to become a nutritionist. After the training, I changed my eating habits and immediately felt that my body felt good from the inside, my eczema disappeared and my sweet tooth was under control.
One evening it hit me hard and it became so obvious – I want to give the children this knowledge! Habits that are acquired early become self-evident . Everyday food is very much about what we do every day and if we feel good, we can do more, feel happier and calmer.
I had started to see the sparkling sugar-infatuation look in my eldest son and I myself just felt nagging and failed at all to inspire him to choose healthy food. Simply put, my knowledge had made me feel more grumpy and more boring.
Now the work began on how to make everything so that it was fun. My goal was that this would take me seventeen minutes to be fun with healthy food and my son would stand with a broad smile and say - aha! now I get it. The Food Pirate is a simple and clear explanation of which nutrients the body needs. That is, we need to get nutrition through carbohydrates, protein and fat. For that, vitamins are needed in small amounts that come largely from fruit and vegetables.
Today I am proud and grateful to be able to work as a qualified nutritionist and wellness educator. Working only with numbers can feel boring, but I really love combining health with the concrete and what takes us safely towards the results we want. That's why I like to call myself a food instructor .
Understanding why is often the crucial part that makes a difference for the children. It becomes understandable and being able to participate in what is served and even better to be involved in preparing it gives commitment. Then it is also more fun to eat that food!
My dream if I were to decide “more homeschooling in every lesson plan at every school.”
